Valencia City of Arts & Sciences – Sept, 2024

Join me for an immersive photography workshop set against the stunning backdrop of the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia. This enchanting city, known for its architectural wonders and vibrant culture, provides the perfect setting for photographers of all levels to sharpen their skills and unleash their creativity.

Whether you’re a beginner eager to learn the basics or a seasoned photographer seeking inspiration, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore this architectural masterpiece and capture its beauty through the lens. Get ready to embark on a memorable journey where you’ll unlock the secrets of composition, lighting, and storytelling, all while surrounded by the awe-inspiring splendour of Valencia’s City of Arts and Sciences.

The 4 nights accommodation for the workshop will be at the beautiful 4 star Hotel Valencia Oceanic. This bright and modern hotel is located just a few minutes walk from our main focus of the workshop, the City of Arts. It is also centrally located to a multitude of restaurants and shopping areas, allowing you to fully experience the cultural and culinary vibrancy that is the essence of Valencias beauty.

As well as offering an unbeatable location the hotel also has a lovely outdoor pool, with garden area, terrace and bar making it an ideal option for you to enjoy your rest periods.

The workshop will begin on Friday the 6th of September at 6pm with a meet and greet at the hotel. With the option after, to head to one of the fabulous restaurants near our hotel in Valencia and enjoy the local cuisine. Following this the group will head out to explore the iconic City of Arts. As the sun sets we will capture the futuristic architecture of the Hemisfèric, the mesmerising water features of the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, and the intricate design of the Museu de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe.

Over the following 3 full days of the workshop (Saturday, Sunday & Monday) we will begin each day with a sunrise shoot. Experimenting with reflections, leading lines, and symmetrical compositions. Rising early allows us to witness & capture the soft hues of dawn casting a magical glow upon the architectural wonders.

Following our sunrise shoot we will return to our hotel to enjoy the fantastic variety available in the buffet breakfast. After a short rest period we will head back out to continue shooting for the remainder of the day. We will take breaks as required throughout the day as we continue to explore all the City of Arts has to offer, including the interiors of these fascinating architectural creations.

On one of the workshop days we will take a short taxi ride to the Old Town. Here you will be immersed in the historic charm of Valencia. We will wander through the narrow streets, capturing the vibrant colours and unique architecture. Visiting historical sites like the Valencia Cathedral, the majestic Silk Exchange (La Lonja de la Seda) and Plaza de la Virgen. Photographing the intricate details of the cathedral’s facade, and the lively atmosphere of the plaza.

No trip to the Old Town would be complete without visiting the Central Market (Mercado Central), a bustling hub filled with colourful fruits, vegetables, and local delicacies. We will capture the vibrant displays of produce, the dynamic interactions between buyers and sellers, and the architectural beauty of the market.

The workshop will conclude with a final sunset shoot on the evening of Monday the 9th of September.

There will be a pre-workshop Zoom session for all participants. This will be an opportunity learn more about what you can expect on the workshop.

A minimum of 4 participants are required for this workshop to go ahead. In the event the minimum is not met and the workshop does not proceed, all payments (deposits & Early Bird) will be refunded. It is not advisable to book flights until you receive confirmation from us of the workshop, as flight costs will not be refunded.
