I am a professional landscape, travel and seascape photographer who was born and raised in Ireland. I am based in County Cork. My journey into photography began back in 2006 when I developed a love primarily for landscapes and seascapes.

I love to share my passion for photographing with others through my images and teaching. As a result, I offer a great choice of photography workshops here in Ireland, and also internationally in amazing places such as: Iceland, England, Scotland, Wales, Morocco, Slovenia, France, Greece and Italy.

   I highly recommend Rodney O'Callaghan photography.
I have joined Rodney on trips to The Outer Hebredies, Slovenia and Czechia and plan to join him in Budapest shortly.
He is an excellent teacher, very easy going and he caters for all skill levels. He puts a huge effort into researching all his locations and ensures that he arrives at the best locations at the optimum time to get the best shots possible.

   Rodney runs a fabulous trip! Shoots are planned with care and amazing forethought for locations. Suggestions regarding composition and camera use were welcomed by everyone. We were faced with a lot of rain and headed east to avoid it - got a perfect day/shoot.

Rodney is amazing behind the wheel - calm, safe, and managed all those hairpin turns in the Julian Alps with ease. Terrific accommodations and great meal choices.

All in all a great trip hosted by a pro and a gentleman. Thank you Rodney!

   I was recently on Rodney’s workshop to the City of Arts and Science in Valencia Spain which I really enjoyed. This is my 3rd trip abroad with him. Rodney is a great photographer, manager and organiser.  He knows all the best spots to take a great photo.  He has a great eye for composition which in turn helps the group get some nice shots. He has a vast knowledge of photography and is quick to provide assistance for any query from the group. Your knowledge of photography will definitely increase as a result of the workshop.

   I’ve been on four international workshops with Rodney, most recently to Slovenia in the autumn. There are two reasons I love Rodney’s workshops. Firstly, he takes me to the right place at the right time to get the best light and weather conditions. Secondly, he is there for us photographers. He is a great photography teacher and constantly shares his knowledge and experience. He is always on hand to help with composition, camera settings and information about the location. He really tunes into the location, knows the best viewpoints and notices the slightest change in light so we can get the best photographs. His workshops are very well organised. He always has a plan B if the weather isn’t good. He is selfless and gives 100% all day long so that we get the most from the workshops. Rodney ensures a relaxed and fun atmosphere without compromising on the photographic output. I highly recommend his workshops and I have already booked my next one.

   I had an absolutely fantastic week on Rodney’s photography workshop in Slovenia! From the very beginning, communication was excellent, with Zoom calls beforehand ensuring everything was well organised and we knew what to expect.

The accommodation was extremely comfortable, Rodney is incredibly knowledgeable and generous with his photography advice, and the locations we visited were simply stunning. I came away with some amazing photographs and memories of some of the most scenic places.

Above all, I had a great laugh throughout the week. It was a brilliant combination of learning, photography, beautiful scenery and good company. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend Rodney’s workshops to anyone looking to improve their photography while having a fantastic time

   I highly recommend Rodney's workshops, having returned recently from a week of shooting autumn in Slovenia. Rodney knows all the best spots and which conditions are most likely to suit each one. Everything was absolutely perfectly organised and we all we had to do was enjoy our photography and have great craic doing it. I've been on a few trips with Rodney now and will book again in the future. Rodney & Sandra put a lot of work into getting the logistics right. The accommodation has been good each time, central where possible. Each location I've been too had budget airline access. As far as the locations are concerned, Rodney knows his places. The best ones for sunrise/sunset, the best in the rain, in harsh sunshine, the locations a bit off the beaten track. Rodney is also an educator. He wants you to see each scene through your own eyes & decide how to produce the image that reflects your vision. This is NOT a 'here's the location, here are the settings, now shoot' experience.  Any help you ask for, you'll get, and all other guidance is gentle & a suggestion rather than an instruction.

Each time zone brought very different light and harsh daylight midday works so well with the architecture, light and shadow. Learnt a huge amount and found the whole trip really inspiring. I will be using these skills at home which is really exciting, Rodney as always really hands on with tuition and guidance. He is a born teacher. Fantastic group, we laughed so much on this trip. Just returned from my third photography holiday with Rodney, have a 4th one booked and 5th one planned. Really enjoy my time on these trips which offer a judgement free zone to be creative, and a like minded community that will not complain when you use every opportunity to take pictures (unlike friends and family might 🤫).

Currently going through pictures from our trip to Lewis and Harris in the Outer Hebrides and as much as it was a long journey there and back it was well worth it. I can see a lot of improvement in my photography since my first trip and might start adding landscape photography to my repertoire which it wasn’t really before, but the trips have most certainly inspired that and have grown my confidence immensely.

The Outer Hebrides were my favourite location so far as it not only offers amazing opportunities to take pictures - it has an incredible energy that allows you to forget the stress and worries you may have left behind at home. I would have happily spent another week (or year).

Rodney is good company and there’s always time for a laugh. He also has an annoyingly good eye in seeing where there is opportunity for a good picture, which makes me a wee bit jealous I just say, but also makes me want to return again to learn from him, as he has a wealth of knowledge to offer in the field.

Trip to Slovenia with Rodney is a memorable one.  Rodney helped when needed to make sure that we get perfect photos and experience.  We supposed to get bad weather for two days but he's gone out of his way to get us somewhere beautiful and dry.

From the moment I booked my Photography Tour with Rodney the experience was great. He held a zoom call with the participants a few weeks before our trip to introduce us to each other and also find out about equipment needed, locations, times etc. then he collected us from the airport and from that moment we had a fantastic time. He had arranged a meal for our group to get to know each other and then we started the tour. He had plans for all weather conditions and locations suited for sunrises and sunsets. He was extremely encouraging to everyone no matter what experience we had. He helped with settings and compositions. He had us at the locations early and first ahead of other groups so we got the best possible positions. Each evening we had a lovely meal all together and recounted the days photography. While driving he was a wealth of knowledge about the local areas and chatted away to the group easily.
I came home with some fantastic memories, new friends and even managed to get some great photos that I can say I’m proud off. I can also say that Rodney has become a true friend. I would highly recommend him for a photography tour and I will be using him again.

The trip was extremely well run in terms of pick up , drop off and transportation.
The accommodation was excellent.
The locations we went to were amazing and obviously a lot of research had been done in choosing them.
What made the trip particularly special was the level of photography tuition which was suited to individual needs and done in a relaxed encouraging way.
The group worked hard  and we covered a lot of ground while having lots of fun along the way. It is a great way to make great friends whether you travel solo or with a group.

I went on a tour with Rodney to Slovenia doing landscape photography. It was an amazing experience, Rodney took us to some beautiful locations, he made sure we had the best locations for the particular weather conditions. I am signed up for another one in 6 months, and I can’t wait.  Rodney is a very patient teacher with great ideas.  He makes learning fun, and even if he has already shown you once, he does not hesitate to explain it again until you understand.

He knows all the hidden gems to take photos. Days were well planned, with great variation. He's very helpful with camera settings, patient & gives such good advice on composition. The first two workshops I went to with Rodney were in Ireland and changed the way I see the world through my camera.  Rodney has a talent to helping you look at familiar places with new eyes. Those first two workshops opened my door to a whole new way of thinking about photography.
The experience gave me confidence to join my first overseas workshop, to the Isle of Lewis an Harris, one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited and a must for any landscape photographer. The beaches, dramatic scenery and quality of light made it a dream location. We were very lucky with the weather too, blue skies, little wind and no rain. Perfect , making the trip even more special. 
Next workshop with Rodney was Namibia.  Africa has stolen my heart.  The itinerary and accommodation  that Rodney and his team organized were wonderful. Everything ran smoothly and locations unforgettable.  It’s a place I would visit again and without hesitation I would travel again with ROC tours. 
What stands out most about Rodney’s Tours/workshops both home and abroad, is how effortless everything feels for participants. Every detail thought through and accommodation excellent. The amount of work Rodney puts into each workshop is obvious and almost superhuman. He not only drives us to incredible locations but spend the entire day supporting everyone, no matter their experience level always with patience and a smile even while managing groups of different personalities. I would highly recommend ROC photographic workshops for beginners to seasoned photographers.
