Prague, the enchanting capital of the Czech Republic, is a beautiful city where centuries of architectural splendour have survived remarkably intact. Nestled in the heart of Central Europe along the winding Vltava River, Prague’s Gothic cathedrals, Baroque palaces, Art Nouveau facades, and Cubist masterpieces offer a wealth of photographic opportunities. From the fairytale silhouette of Prague Castle to the medieval charm of Charles Bridge and the old trams, our Prague photography workshop is designed to help you capture the city’s magic while mastering essential techniques for urban and architectural photography.

He is always on hand to share his knowledge, gets you to the best places at the right times and creates the atmosphere for a great few days with fellow photographers. Highly recommend you book something rather than travel on your own or in a small group. Now that I’m back home, I can look back on a most enjoyable, interesting and at times photographically challenging workshop in Tuscany. First and foremost, Rodney is personable, knowledgeable and a wonderful guide. I can’t begin to say how much I have learned from him in such a short period of time. He brings a combination of deep photography knowledge and a friendly personality to one individual. This was my first workshop, and it was such a benefit to have Rodney on hand to regularly check if all was ok and to provide some help on composition or technical details. I have used Rodney’s photographic guiding services twice now, (Antrim coast and Dingle) I would have no hesitation in recommending Rodney to other tour leaders who were thinking of running photo workshops and hiring a van to Ireland. Rodney’s local knowledge is exceptional, the experience he has gained in running his own tours means he understands the requirements of running a successful trip, he knew the best time of day to visit each location to get the best light, where to ‘duck in’ and get a cuppa when the heavens opened and where to find a ‘loo’ at short notice, he took away all the logistical hassle and stress of running a tour allowing me to spend more time to focus on clients, Im looking forward to working with him again in the near future.

Charles Bridge

Charles Bridge in Prague is a lovely scene to photograph, especially during the golden hours of dawn and dusk when the soft light brings out the detail and texture of its Gothic towers and Baroque statues.

The bridge’s weathered stone, the Vltava River flowing beneath, and the spires of the Old Town create layers of visual interest that work beautifully in both wide-angle or close up for more intimate details.

Tunnels of Prague

Prague’s network of underground tunnels and passageways offer a moody, atmospheric alternative to the city’s sunlit landmarks, and are especially compelling at night.

These subterranean scenes are rich with texture—ancient brick archways, worn stone walls, flickering candlelight, and dramatic shadows that are perfect for moody, cinematic images.

Trams

Prague’s iconic trams, especially the vintage red-and-cream models rattling through the historic centre, offer dynamic street photography opportunities that capture the city’s blend of old-world charm and everyday life.

The trams themselves are photogenic subjects, whether you’re shooting them head-on as they emerge from narrow cobblestone streets, capturing their curved forms rounding corners with Prague Castle in the background, or freezing motion as they cross the Vltava River bridges with the city skyline behind them.

Charles Bridge gate

The Gothic towers guarding both ends of Charles Bridge, particularly the Old Town Bridge Tower, considered one of the finest Gothic gateways in Europe, are architectural masterpieces.

The Old Town tower’s ornate facade, decorated with sculptures of saints, royal crests, and intricate stone carvings, catches beautiful directional light in early morning or late afternoon when the sun rakes across its surface, revealing texture and depth in the weathered sandstone.

These are just a few of the fabulous scenes and locations we will photograph on our four-day photography workshop in this lovely, ancient European city.
