Overview

Over four shooting days you’ll photograph:

– Clean modern lines and bold geometry in Berlin’s contemporary architecture

– Atmospheric street scenes

– Classic landmarks such as Alexanderplatz, the Victory Column, the Holocaust Memorial and the Brandenburg Gate

– A selection of U‑Bahn stations across the Berlin underground network, each with its own distinctive design, colours and patterns

With only 7 participants, there’s plenty of personal attention, on‑the‑spot feedback and space to develop your own style at a relaxed, unhurried pace.

– Alexanderplatz

– The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe (Holocaust Memorial)

We’ll explore the U‑Bahn for visual inspiration:

– Varying colours, tiles and patterns

– Strong leading lines and repetition

– Great opportunities for motion, silhouettes and environmental portraits

– Golden hour & evening shooting

We’ll make the most of the best light:

– Evening blue hour cityscapes

– Night scenes with reflections and light trails

– Mixed natural and artificial light for moodier street images

– Small group, big support

With just 7 places, there’s time for:

– Individual guidance in the field

– Help with composition, timing and camera settings

– Constructive review and discussion of your images

Dates & schedule

4 nights’ accommodation · 4 days of shooting

Tuesday 20 April

– From 16:00 – Meet & greet at the hotel (hotel TBC)

– Early evening – First photo walk and sunset/blue hour shooting session

Wednesday 21 – Friday 23 April

– Daily photo walks focusing on:

– Architectural locations and urban landscapes

– Street photography

– Selected U‑Bahn stations across the network

– Mixture of morning, afternoon and evening sessions (with breaks to rest, review and recharge)

– Friday evening – Final sunset/blue hour shoot and closing session

Saturday 24 April**

– Check‑out and departures

Equipment needed:

  • DSLR camera / mirrorless / bridge or similar
  • Sturdy tripod
  • Walking shoes
  • Spare batteries

Recommended equipment:

  • Lens: 24 – 70, 24-105, standard zoom lens, wide angle would also be ideal but is not essential
  • Good walking shoes
